2002 Solter Brut Sekt Elegant. Melons. Good acids. Balanced. A really good value. 3

2003 Dr. Loosen Erdener Treppchen Riesling Kabinett
More golden and more honey’d than the Schaefer. Citrus on nose. Almost a touch of TCA or mustiness in center. Honey on 1 st notes with some acids in the center. Slightly sweet on finish. Pleasant wines for the money. Loosen a bit rounder sweeter style. Later - candy nose. 3-4
2003 Willi Schäefer Graacher Domprobst Riesling Kabinett Paler than Loosen. Not big on acid. Minerals on nose. Great sweetness on finish. A little herby and grassy. I like this better in comparison to the Loosen. Narder more classic style. Later - an intense muscaty nose. 2-3

Butter Poached Maine Lobster & Sautéed Foie Gras White Corn Belini and Golden Peach Reduction

2003 Dr. Loosen Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese Minerals and a bit of citrus on the nose. White peaches and tart golden cherries on finish. A hint of sweetness. Really great with the Foie gras. Sweetness perfect. Showing really well. Good value. Drink Now! Later the nose is of fresh chicken. 4-5
2001 Willi Schäefer Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese Goldkapsel (auction wine) Petrol-y classic Riesling nose. Green grass and hay. Way too young. Too hard with this dish. Just needs lots of time. 9-12

Lavender Smoked Sonoma Duck Breast, Bing Cherry Essence

2002 Kesseler Cuvée Max Spätburgunder
Fruit and alcohol. Cream from the glass. Light style. Great acids. Slightly bitter finish. Quite a lot of oak on finish. Plum confit nose. Doesn’t say Pinot. Dry tannic center. Spiciness showed with the duck. Later - curry and Moroccan spices. 1-3+

Artisanal Cheese Selection with Fresh Fig: Crater Lake, Cow’s Milk Blue (9 months old from Oregon, Achadina Capricious (3 months old semi-firm goat’s milk from Petaluma) Everona (Raw Sheep’s milk aged 1 yr)

1990 Dr. Loosen Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Auslese Killer nose! Honeysuckle nose. Really great and golden flowers on finish. Hard green center. 6!
1999 Willi Schäefer Graacher Domprobst Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel Auction Wine (see out-of-focus picture on right of the medallion) Very balanced. Good sweet finish. Delicious! Again needs lots of time. 6-12

2002 Dr. Loosen Erdener Treppchen Riesling Eiswein Intense caramel nose. Like spun sugar. Broiled grapefruit with sugar. Too young to judge. Possibly the most expensive wine we’ve ever tasted and was not in slightest of readiness to drink. 0-2?
