Jack's comments: What can be said? The 1989 Château de Beaucastel rocked (and two days later sold for $238/btl) and was very clearly the wine of the night. The Bordeaux weren't exciting me, except for the 1985 Lynch Bages, which was showing very well. I also found the 1998 Bois de Boursan CdP Cuvée Felix quite appealing, but others weren't as enthusiastic.

1999 Leroy Meursault Charmes Nose of mineral and yellow pollen. Color of yellow straw. Buttery finish.

2003 Marcassin Chardonnay Marcassin Vyd Nose of apricot and honey. Warm round ripe center.

2002 J.L. Chave Hermitage (blanc) Closed nose. Minerally, not oaky, with a bright, hard center. (Some that this bottle was atypical.)

2001 Château Rieussec Sauternes Nose screams sugar and honeyed apricot. Center is apricot and ginger with candied ginger on the finish. Some acids.

2003 Château Rieussec Sauternes More syrupy than '01. More honey and fewer acids. Doesn't have the ginger element.

1996 Pernin-Rossin Nuits St. George La Richermone Nose of roses and roasted meat. Char & BBQ meat in center. Shorter finish.

1997 D. Mortet Gevrey Chambertin Au Velle Minerally nose with rubber. Harder minerally center with hard fruit.

1990 Mommessin Clos de Tart Meaty irony nose, bright cherry and slightly biting acids. Shorter finish.

1995 Thomas-Moillard Romanee St. Vivant Nose of spice and mineral. Softer and slight spicy center. Soft finish.

1966 Château Lafite Rothschild Slightly off? Musty cellar-y nose, which shows also lightly on finish.

1975 Château Clinet Crushed cooked raspberry and leather on nose. Bright center with some bright acids. Long finish.

1978 Château Leoville Las Cases Super sweet red currant on nose. Showing oxidation. Milky caramel finish.

1979 Château Ducru Beaucaillou Tight nose. Powdery minerally center with good acids. Long finish.

1981 Château Lafite Rothschild Slightly green pepper and herbal nose. Hard, interesting herbal center. The finish is slightly dry with good acids.

1993 Beringer Merlot Bancroft Ranch Lightly powdery red fruit on nose. Slight extracted intense red fruit and dry center. Definite element of orange juice/orange rind on finish.
